Bentley settles for draw

BOSS Jim Bentley said he thought a point was about right after the 2-2 draw with Portsmouth at the Globe Arena.

After an entertaining game played in terrible conditions Bentley was happy to see his side take a share of the spoils.

He said: “Credit to both sets of players. I thought they both had a go, really went about their jobs, tried to pass it, showed loads of desire and work rate and went to try and win the game.

“Momentum swung back and forth. We went 1-0 down after not doing enough to stop to cross but credit to the lads they’ve come back and forced the issue a little bit and we scored from the second phase of a set play with a great ball from Jamie (Devitt) and Hughesy has headed it in the top corner.

“We really got on top and Padraig Amond was nice and positive to win the penalty but unfortunately he’s missed it and it’s a key moment.

“If he could have scored it, it could have given us a little lift because we haven’t been in front much lately but it wasn’t to be.

“I was disappointed again with the second goal because we got hit on the break and were a little bit open.

“Both teams had a go in the second half and the ‘keeper had made a couple of good saves but fortunately for us he didn’t cover himself in glory with the equaliser.

“But Jack’s gone on and affected the game and could have won it late on but overall it’s a fair result.”
