Update from the Globe

JIM Bentley was in an upbeat mood this afternoon as he looked ahead to Saturday's clash with Wycombe.

Bentley said that he was hoping Ryan Williams and Andy Wright would be back in contention for the game against the Chairboys while also admitting that he was hopeful of announcing that another current player had extended his contract.

Bentley said: “They are both not far away and if it’s not weekend I’m hoping it will be next weekend.

“Marcus Marshall will still be a couple of weeks. He’s not had the best of luck with his hamstring and then in his first training session back before the Hartlepool game, he hit a shot in training and slipped a bit and hyper-extended his knee.

“There was swelling straight away and we thought he’d done his cruciate ligament which would have been an absolute devastation for everyone.

“But thankfully he’s only just torn a bit of the cruciate so there’s no operation needed.''

He added: “A plus point is one of our players who we’ve been discussing terms with has verbally agreed (to extend his contract) so hopefully it’s a case of dotting the is and crossing the ts and we’ll have good news on that front before the weekend.”

* Young defender Will Bell has extended his loan at Evo-Stik First Division North club Kendal Town for a further month.
