Pre Season Steps Up

3 July 2014

Double session on day 2

SHRIMPS players have been reunited with the training ground in a double session earlier today.

The morning session included a warm up, half-mile runs and light ball work whilst the keepers worked separately with goalkeeper coach Lee Jones.

Jim Bentley said: “Pre-season is about building fitness.

“These half-mile runs that we’ve done over the last three years have proved successful and provide a good benchmark to see where the players are in terms of fitness.”

“We like to get the ball out as soon as possible and we’ve been doing some basic technical ball work.”

Ken McKenna saw the day as a success and said: “We got what we wanted out of it, which was to test the players’ endurance and to assess their fitness. We were impressed with the results.”

The afternoon session focused on prevention of injury work including core and flexibility exercises devised by physiotherapist Simon Farnworth.
