Released defender passes on thanks

CHRIS McCready has passed on his thanks to Morecambe fans for their support after his release this week.
The experienced central defender was released by boss Jim Bentley on Tuesday and says he leaves with a heavy heart.
The former Crewe and Tranmere defender said: "Morecambe FC has been one of highlights of my career. From moment I signed to the moment I left, I've enjoyed it so much.
"The fans have been wonderful to me and I've tried to repay them with my performances and professionalism.
"I'd like to sincerely thank them, it's been an honour to wear the shirt. The lads are the best I've ever worked with and I'll treasure those friendships.''
He added: "I would like to say a big thanks to all the staff because they are very supportive and help in ways not everyone will see.
"A special mention goes to Dr Trevor Fleet- a modern day hero for compassion and empathy and a wonderful man and friend.
"I would also like to thank Jim Bentley and Ken McKenna for believing in me and allowing me to play for them because, they've helped me a great deal.
"I've given it my best shot everyday to repay them. I'm sure the whole club will be very successful and I wish everyone the best of luck for the future.'
