Bentley pleased with his side’s point against Cheltenham Town

BOSS Jim Bentley said he was pleased with his side’s point against Cheltenham.

In an entertaining game between the two early-season high-fliers both sides had periods of dominance but failed to beat their respective goalkeepers.

Cheltenham had much the better of the first half with the Shruimps much more of a threat after the break.

Bentley said: “It was an entertaining game but I wouldn’t have said that at half-time.

“I was a bit frustrated and didn’t think we were good enough. We should have been behind at half-time only for Barry Roche and a little bit of poor finishing from them.

“We didn’t do ourselves justice in the first half but in the second it was probably 50-50.

“They were banging it long to big Harrison and we defended well and then I think I got the timing of the first substitute right.

“When Paul Mullin came on he changed the game. He gave us a spark and in the last 30 minutes we were the better side but unfortunately we couldn’t get that goal that would have separated the sides.

“If we’d got the goal we maybe wouldn’t have deserved it after the first 45 minutes.

“We’ll take a point against one of the good sides in the division in a top of the table clash.

“There’s plenty to be positive about and we move on.”
