Parrish "proud'' to skipper Shrimps

Andy Parrish says he is "proud'' to have been given the captain's armband in recent games.

Parrish skippered the side in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash at Fleetwood before being named as captain for the first time in League 2 at Wimbledon on Saturday.

The 26-year-old  said: “It was a very proud moment in my career.

“My family have been congratulating me and everybody’s been texting me and I’m really proud. It was fantastic.

“Personally I’m happy with the way things are going but it’s a team game.

“We’re doing well at home but away from home we can put in better performances and should have probably picked up a couple more points.

“We’re in a good position but we’re thinking as a squad well we could have picked up a point here or three there.

“Overall we have had a good start but we’re looking to kick on too.”

Looking ahead to this weekend's game against the league's top scorers Parrish said: “You look at it and you think well they’re scoring a lot of goals but they’re conceding as well.

“As long as we’re pretty solid at the back we’re hoping our lads can take advantage of the way they’ve been conceding recently.”
