Shrimps grant Shrimpers North Terrace
Morecambe Football Club have today announced that following lengthy discussions with Southend United, the Club have agreed to release the North Terrace (600 tickets) to away supporters for this weekend’s game.
The talks have been ongoing since last weekend’s results meant that Southend can secure automatic promotion to League 1 should they record their first league victory over Jim Bentley’s Morecambe team.
Steve Kavanagh CEO of Southend Utd commented: "I would like to thank Morecambe Football Club for granting our request for extra capacity. Their kind gesture will allow so many more Southend fans the opportunity to be present for what we hope will be a memorable day in their Club’s history."
Morecambe FC’s General Manager Mark Dixon said: "Last weekend’s results meant we saw this one coming. After consulting the relevant safety personnel regarding the number of Southend fans that might travel on the day, we have agreed to open the North Terrace to away supporters for this one-off situation. There will now be the potential for 2400 Southend fans to make the trip this Saturday which will guarantee a fabulous atmosphere for what should be a great game of football."
Current North Terrace Season Ticket Holders will all be accommodated in the Omega Holidays Home Terrace for this one game.
