Wycombe Wanderers 0-1 Morecambe

A LATE Paul Mullin goal gave Morecambe their first ever victory over Wycombe.

Substitute Mullin continued his good run of form in front of goal with a close range header four minutes from time to spoil Wycombe’s hopes of sealing an automatic promotion spot.

The points could have been in the bag long before that had it not been for home keeper Matt Ingram who made a string of world class second half saves to keep the Shrimps out.

His best came from an Alex Kenyon flick header on 70 minutes and he followed that up with more great saves from Kevin Ellison and Padraig Amond.

Shrimps' boss Jim Bentley selected the same starting side that lost to Burton seven days ago and tehy looked solid in a first half that saw few chances.

Wycombe started brightly and Fred Onyedimna had a good chance to open the scoring on five minutes when he ran on to a deep cross from Sam Wood but headed straight at Andreas Arestidou.

The home side went close again on 13 minutes when former Accrington Stanley midfielder Peter Murphy flashed a half volley inches wide of the right hand post from the edge of the area.

Morecambe gradually began to force their way into the game with Mark Hughes testing Matt Ingram with a back post header from a well worked corner.

And It was the Shrimps who had the best chance of the half when Aaron Wildig played in Jack Redshaw but the striker could only shoot straight at Ingram when he should have done much better.

Wycombe started the second half on the front foot with Alfie Mawson seeing a header cleared off the line by a crowd of Morecambe defenders but the the Shrimps began to take control and create a host of chances.
