Captain ruled out for 12 weeks.
Peter Murphy had a scan on his knee, which was injured in a challenge during the 8th minute of Morecambe’s opening League 2 match at Hartlepool on Saturday.
The scan showed a grade 3 tear to the MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) of the right knee.
The knee will be braced for 6 weeks and a 6 week rehabilitation period will follow.
Murphy was named captain last week and the news means the influential midfielder is likely to be sidelined for the Shrimps until mid November.
