Peter Murphy injury blow for Shrimps

NEW skipper Peter Murphy is set to udergo a scan over the next few days to see the full extent of the injury picked up at Hartlepool.

Murphy limped out of their opening day defeat at Hartlepool after picking  up a knee injury in a hard, 50-50 challenge just seven minutes into the game.

He left Victoria Park on crutches wearing a knee brace with the club hopeful he can have a scan on Sunday or Monday.

Boss Jim Bentley said: “He’s never been injured in his career and he’s left the ground on crutches with a knee brace on.

“He’s a big player for us. He only got the captaincy on Thursday.

“I feel sorry for Peter and I feel sorry for the group because he’s a big player for us.

“Hopefully after he has a scan the injury isn’t as bad as first feared but it’s not looking great.”
