Bentley "hopeful'' for Wildig return

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is hopeful that Aaron Wildig will be fit for the derby against Accrington at the Globe tomorrow.

Wildig limped off against Sheffield United on Tuesday night. But the midfielder has recovered well over the last couple of days and Bentley hopes he will be fit to face the Shrimps' Lancashire rivals.

Bentley said: “It looked pretty bad at the time with the way he left the ground and we feared the worst at first I must admit.

“We did think he was going to be out for a lengthy spell because when we watched the DVD it looked like it might be medial ligament damage again.

“He just caught his foot and got nudged the wrong way.

“He’s had a bit of a pain in his shin but thankfully has responded really well so hopefully he’ll be okay.”

There is further good news on the injury front with Adam Dugdale and Tom Barkhuizen, who have missed the opening two games of the season, returning to training yesterday.
