Bentley On Newport

Boss looks to maintain 100% record

BOSS Jim Bentley is hoping the Shrimps can maintain their winning record over Newport when the two sides meet this weekend.

The Shrimps have won all three games between the sides so far – a record Bentley is keen to build on this week as the Shrimps look to bounce back from Sunday’s disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Bentley said: “Newport’s a tough game, like they all are in this league but we can go into the game knowing that we’ve had the upper hand on them so far.

“We beat them back-to-back last season and earlier this season and there’s always goals in the games.

“But we’ll have to play better than we did on Sunday.

“If I was the Newport manager watching us I’d know where to hurt us.

“We’ve got to make sure we put a better show on after Sunday. It was really frustrating.

“I’m so hungry for success and I felt a bit let down. We’ll work extra hard this week and make sure we start the game better and have a good go.

“We want to get ourselves back on track and further up the table which is where we want to be.”
