Bentley Adds Dugdale

Adam Dugdale becomes Jim Bentleys latest addition to the squad

MORECAMBE have signed Adam Dugdale from Tranmere.

The 27-year-old central defender has joined the Shrimps on a one year deal with an option for a further year.

He becomes the latest addition to Jim Bentley’s squad and joins fellow summer recruits Tom Barkhuizen, Lee Molyneux, Peter Murphy and Aaon Wildig at the Globe Arena.

Former Crewe defender Dugdale said Morecambe management pair of Jim Bentley and Ken McKenna were the reason for making the move.

He said: “I have known Ken McKenna for a long time and we have always kept in touch. When I met him and the gaffer they really sold the club to me.

“I have always had the utmost respect for Kenny and everyone I know speaks really highly of Jim Bentley and I was really happy to sign on.

“Everyone knows Morecambe is a really well run club and I can’t wait to get going. Being Liverpudlian I know a lot of the lads already and I’m looking forward to getting going.’’

Shrimps’ boss Jim Bentley said: “Kenny has always spoken really highly of Adam and people I know and respect in the game have always been very complimentary about him. I have always liked him as well when I have seen him and kept my eye on his progress and I’m delighted that he has chosen to join us.

“He’s a real leader and as well as being a good defender can play the ball from the back as well and should really settle into our style of play.’’
