Everyone must stay positive for the rest of the season

Jim Bentley says everyone at the club must stay positive and work together from now until the end of the season.

Morecambe travel to Carlisle on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after two successive home defeats in the past week.

Bentley said: “I can understand everyone’s frustration because we haven’t been great at home but we’re on 48 points and are in a better position than last season.

“I’ve said to the lads it’s about sticking together and I’ll say that to the fans too.

“We’ve still got 27 points to play for and we’ll give it our all to finish as high as we can.

“We’ve got to make sure we get more points on the board because the teams at the bottom are all picking up points.

“They’re battling for everything as they should be and we’ve got to make sure we come out fighting, staff, players and fans alike.”

Looking back to Tuesday night's defeat against Shrewsbury Bentlehy said: “We had a nervous edge about us again to start with but the mad thing is about football that you create the chances that we did against Hartlepool and don’t take one but with our first chance tonight we’ve scored and find ourselves 1-0 up.

“I haven’t seen the two goals but again we looked a little bit jittery, smashing it against each other.

“We found ourselves 2-1 down but we addressed one or two things at half time and at the start of the second half Jack Redshaw gets himself into a great position and if he squares it it could be 2-2 and the momentum would swing our way.

“But after we lost Andreas to a red card they were smart. They didn’t chase the game, they wore us down and moved it round well and got the two late goals.”
