Lee Molyneux Signs

Lee Molyneux becomes Jim Bentley's second summer signing

Morecambe have made their second signing of the summer.

Lee Molyneux has signed on a two year deal and joins Tom Barkhuizen at the Globe Arena.

The 26 year old, who has joined from Crewe, had loan spells at Accrington and Tranmere last year and is well know to Shrimps' fans after scoring twice for Stanley in their 5-1 win over Morecambe at the Crown Ground two seasons ago.

Molyneux said Shrimps' boss Jim Bentley was the main reason behind making the move to the club.

He said: "The gaffer did a great job selling the club to me.

"He told me his vision for the next couple of years and I was pretty much hooked.

"I've had a couple of unsettled years and I'm looking forward to some stability in my life and I am sure that will happen here.

"I just want to play regularly again, score goals and create goals for others and I'm really looking forward to the season ahead already.''

Bentley said: "Lee is a player who I know has a lot of potential.

"He is another who can play in a variety of positions and with his pace and eye for a goal is someone who will really add to our squad.

"He is at a great age and I'm sure he will be a player that the fans will be really excited about.''

Molyneux, who played for England at Under 16, 17 and 18 levels, started his career as a junior with Everton before moving to Southampton in 2009.

He has also played for Plymouth and Port Vale.
