Walking Football: A Slower Version Of The Beautiful Game

15 October 2015

Morecambe FC Community Sports launches walking football sessions

Walking football has become increasingly popular. ‘It’s exactly what it sounds like a standard game of football where players walk instead of run.’ It’s designed to help people get fit or maintain an active lifestyle no matter what their age and fitness, as well as support people getting back into football which they may have given it up due to age or injury.

Older people who play have seen many benefits: lower heart rate and blood pressure, reduce weight and increase muscle strength, and gain better mobility. And it’s not just health benefits, walking football also offers social benefits. Participants can meet new people, avoid becoming isolated, and interact with individuals and small groups.

The game is designed for people who are 50 and over (If you are younger and have an injury or health condition stopping you from playing a regular game of football, you can enquire about joining one of our walking football session).

Morecambe FC Community Sports will be running taster session on the 3G facilities at the Globe Arena on the dates shown below:

Monday 26th October: 11am till 12pm & 7.30pm till 8.30pm

Monday 2nd November: 11am till 12pm & 7.30pm till 8.30pm

Thursday 5th November: 11am till 12pm
