Shrimps bow out of senior cup.

MORECAMBE bowed out of the Lancashire Senior Cup after a 4-2 defeat at Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

The Shrimps began the game in style with Paul Mullin putting them ahead in only the third minute of the game but the Seasiders came from behind after trialist, former Burnley favourite Martin Paterson, brought them back into the game with a levelller.

After the break Charles Dunne, Kwame Thomas and Connor Oliver all scored to gove Pool a 4-1 advantage until Kevin Ellison pulled one back in the final moments of the game.

Morecambe took an early lead when Paul Mullin’s effort squirmed through the hands of Myles Boney.

The stopper did make amends soon after however, denying Ben Hedley at the back post, before Pool levelled.

A floated ball from David Norris was picked out of the sky by Paterson, and the striker produced a fine finish.

The goal settled Blackpool down and Oliver forced Shrimps' on loan keeper Keiran O’Hara to parry a free-kick won by Thomas.

In the dying embers of the first-half Paterson turned down a golden chance to put Pool ahead, blazing over Thomas’ low cross when unmarked.

The second half started with Kit Gregory forcing O’Hara to save at full-stretch before the keeper was beaten for a second time when Oliver's cross was met perfectly by the head of Dunne.

Two minutes later Thomas made it 3-1 and a penalty for Oliver made it four to seal the tie.

Morecambe had the final say in a decent encounter when Ellison scored from an indirect free-kick..
