£1,749.26 Raised

18 February 2016

Furness Building Society score a winner for Shrimps.

Supporters of Morecambe FC have raised £1,749.26 simply by saving in their Shrimps easy access accounts with Furness Building Society.

The money is paid annually from the society’s own funds – not from savers’ cash – and is calculated as a percentage of the average balances in the accounts. So the more supporters save the larger the payments to the club from the Furness.

Jim Bentley says the account is a ‘win-win’ for the club and its supporters. He said: “All fans who open an account will be helping the club as well as themselves.”

“Our supporters receive a competitive rate of interest on their savings and the Furness make a payment of 1% of the total amount in all of the Morecambe FC accounts to the club which is a great result.”

Ian Quayle said: “Last year we gave more than £450,000 to our affinity partners and this year we hope that the Shrimps supporters will help us to meet our goal of making an even bigger payment to their club.”

He added: “We make it easy for supporters to open accounts and get access to their savings.

"They can go into our local agents Wright & Lord whose offices are at 53 Princes Crescent, Bare, Morecambe or call into our branch in Lancaster.  Alternatively you can call Furness Direct on 0800 834312 or log onto our website www.furnessbs.co.uk/morecambefc to open and manage an account on-line.''
