Boss Praises Roche

Jim Bentley praises Roche as he reaches 300 game milestone.

SHRIMPS' boss Jim Bentley was full of praise for goalkeeper Barry Roche after he marked his 300th league appearance for the Shrimps with a clean sheet in the win at Wycombe on Saturday.

The popular keeper,  who joined the Shrimps from Chesterfield back in 2008, was praised by Bentley who said: “He was excellent.

“His kicking was good and his decision making was good and they hung up some balls to some big, strong players but he was commanding

“At one point I wondered where one was going to land and you just see the big, yellow jersey come through the pack and put two big fists on it and it went about four miles up the pitch.

“He’s great Barry. He’s experienced, loves the club, loves the area, I can’t put enough praise on him.

“I’ve played with him, I’ve managed him and he’s a fantastic pro.

“When you haven’t got much to do it’s important your concentration levels are high and they were.

“Everything that came into his box, he commanded. He organised the backline and it spread right throughout the team in what was a fantastic performance for us all.”
