Murphy Out For Season

6 January 2016

Peter Murphy suffers cruciate ligament damage ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

A SCAN has shown that Shrimps' skipper Peter Murphy has suffered cruciate ligament damage that will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Murphy has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, medial ligament damage and also meniscus damage that will leave him out of action for six months.

Physio Simon Farnworth said: "Peter has had a scan and will have an operation in a couple of weeks when the swelling has gone down.

"An injury like this usually has a six month rehabilitation programme so he will hopefully back in pre season.''

It is the second time Murphy has suffered cruciate ligament damage. He picked up a similar injury in his opposite knee when he was at Accrington as a youngster.
