7 June 2016

Jamie Devitt signs for Carlisle Utd on a two-year deal.

Player of the season Jamie Devitt has left the club and joined League 2 rivals Carlisle Utd on a two-year deal.

Dublin-born Devitt, 25, joined the Shrimps from Chesterfield initially on loan before signing a permanent deal at the Globe in the summer of 2014.

He went on to make 98 appearances for the Shrimps, scoring 12 goals. He was offered a new contract but opted for a move to Brunton Park.

Talking about the deal Head of Recruitment at Carlisle, Lee Dyke,s said: "Jamie is a very talented individual who joins us on the back of a successful season on a personal level.

"Jamie was arguably one of the most effective players we faced last year, playing a big part in three of the four goals we conceded against Morecambe.

"He's a forward thinking player who can create and score goals which is an area we have looked to strengthen as a priority in this transfer window.

"Jamie can play a number of positions across the top end of the pitch. We believe he can play a big part in driving the philosophy of the manager forward and helping us to build on the success we achieved last season."
