Injury Crisis

6 May 2016

Injuries mount up for Shrimps.

SHRIMPS' boss Jim Bentley is facing an injury crisis ahead of the final game of the season against York on Saturday.

Morecambe are looking for a first win in seven as they aim to end a nightmare season on a high but have plenty of injuries to monitor in the run up to the game with Andy Parrish, Shaun Beeley, Ryan Edwards and Tom Barkhuizen all doubtful.

Parrish picked up a broken nose in the draw at Exeter on Saturday and played on while Beeley is battling a thigh problem that saw him miss the trip to St James Park.

Barkhuizen was also absent due to a heel injury while Edwards made the trip to Devon but wasn’t named in the match-day squad after waking up on the day of the game with tonsillitis.

Luke Conlan is a confirmed absentee with the Burnley loanee’s spell at the Globe Arena having come to an end after the game against Exeter.

The Northern Ireland Under 21 international would probably not have featured even if available, the 21-year-old needing stitches in a deep leg wound after coming off after just 25 minutes against the Grecians.

Shrimps fans may not have seen the last of Conlan with the Burnley man likely to be available in the summer.

Laurence Wilson has left the club with his contract due to expire and Conlan is one player who could fill the left back berth going forwards.
