Match Report: Burton Albion 3-0 Morecambe

MORECAMBE Reserves went down 3-0 to an experienced Burton at St George’s Park this afternoon.

Goals from Callum Reilly, Tom Flanagan and an own goal saw the Brewers run out winners comfortably.

Morecambe had the first real chance of the game through striker Ntumbu Massanka who’s shot was deflected over by Brewers' defender Shaun Barker. Albion’s main chance in the first half came from good work down the right by winger Marcus Harness who laid the ball off to opposite winger Callum Reilly who shot just wide from the edge of the box in the 42nd minute.

The Brewers took the lead in the 51st minute when Ben Fox on the right put in Will Miller, who’s shot was blocked by Morecambe's Paul Dawson but fell to Stuart Beavon who found Reilly who slotted home from 15 yards.

Albion continued to force the issue and doubled their lead just six minutes later through defender Tom Flanagan. A corner came in from Harness and with the ball bobbling round in the box, Flanagan hit a right footed strike inside the box which hit the bar and was adjudged by the officials to have gone over the line.

The Brewers pressed again and made it three goals in just 11 minutes when the hard working Will Miller cut inside from the left crossed the ball which deflected off a Morecambe defender into the back of the net.

Morecambe’s best chance came from Paul Mullin in the 80th minute from just outside the area but Brewers stopper Harry Campbell saved well.
