Morecambe goal scorer Cole Stockton said his side were second best from the beginning in their second successive home defeat at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
Speaking after the 5-1 defeat to Doncaster he said: “We started really poorly again and we can't keep giving away leads like we are doing.
“We were second best for most of the game and although I was pleased to get on the scoresheet again it doesn't mean much when you don't get anything from the game.
"We know we have to do better and get back to the sort of form we showed when we won four games on the bounce at the start of the season, starting with a much better display at Cambridge on Saturday.
"It is a big game for us but we just need to get back to doing the basics right.''
