Wrexham Res Report

6 September 2016

Match Report: Wrexham Res 3-1 Morecambe Res

NEW loan signings James Jennings and Ntumba Massanka made their debuts for the Shrimps in the Reserves 3-1 defeat against Wrexham.

Stewart Drummond was able to select a strong side with club skipper Peter Murphy also in the starting line up as he continues his return to fitness following the major injury he picked up in January.

Today's clash was the reserves' first game of the season but they went down to defeat with Gerry McDonagh scoring twice for the home side.

Bradley Reid gave Wrexham the lead after just five minutes after good work by Michael Bakare before McDonagh opened his account on 19 minutes with a good finish after a neat run into the Morecambe box.

Massanka reduced the arrears in the 26th minute with a close range finish but despite playing some good stuff after the break it was Wrexham who scored next when McDonagh beat three men before sliding the ball past Nizic with 20 minutes to go.

Morecambe:  Dan Nizic, Nathan Dutton Kay, James Jennings, Alex Kenyon, Robbie Jenkinson, Tyler Brownsword, Paul Mullin, Peter Murphy, Ntumbu Massanka, Rhys Turner, Lee Molyneux.

Wrexham Reserves: Kieran Wolland, Danny Stephens, Doug Tharme, Olly Marx, Martin Riley, Leo Smith, Nortei Nortey, Tyler Harvey, Bradley Reid, Gerry McDonagh, Michael Bakare.
