JIMBO WORKING HARD TO BRING IN NEW FACES

26 July 2017

SHRIMPS boss Jim Bentley said he is working as hard as possible to bring in new faces ahead of the big kick off on August 5.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at AFC Fylde he said: “We are lacking in certain areas and we know where we need to improve.

“On Tuesday there was some good stuff but it was a bit inconsistent. Fylde wanted it a bit more and showed a bit more knowhow and there is loads to work on but we know what we need to do.

“We will continue to work hard to get the right people in especially in the centre back role. Dean Winnard is the only centre half we have registered and we need two and maybe even three and I think we saw that need at Fylde. But we are a little short in other areas as well and we are doing our best to strengthen in those departments as well.

“We would like to be a bit further on than where we are and we have to n make sure we are better with the ball and without it and that is certainly what we will look to do against Rochdale on Saturday.’’

Bentley did say he was convinced that there would be movement on players over the next few days.

He said: “There are players who will make us stronger. We have more or less sorted one out and are working hard on a loan and there are other options now.

“At this stage there are players who don’t yet have clubs that become more available and some clubs may have had a look at their squads and decided that there are players who they could make available for loan.

“It’s certainly not all doom and gloom and in the games there have been some good signs. Some players are doing well and other know the need to improve and we will be doing all we can to get it right for the start of the season.’’
