Barry Roche will be out of action for 4-6 weeks following a medial meniscus injury to his left knee.
The 35-year-old pulled up in the warm-up prior to the Lancaster City match on 15th July.
He received a scan on the following Monday and subsequently saw the knee surgeon and was operated on at the Manchester Spire Hospital on Tuesday morning.
Shrimps Physiotherapist Simon Farnworth said; “Barry’s come out of the operation well and we’re expecting a full return to training in 4 weeks.”
Roche said; “I’m absolutely devastated to be out so close to the start of the season. There’s never a good time to be injured but I’ll be working as hard as I possibly can to get back to full fitness.”
