Ryan Edwards speaks of his pride after picking up the major awards at the Shrimps’ player of the year evening.
Edwards, who has had an impressive season at the heart of the Shrimps’ defence, said: “It is great to win the awards. To be held in such high esteem by supporters is great but the players’ player of the year award is one that every professional footballer likes to get because it shows he has the backing of his team mates.’’
Looking back at the season overall he said: “I rally feel that I have developed as a player this year.
“Last year I made too many mistakes and often tried to play my way out of trouble and lost the ball in bad areas.
“This year though I’ve put my foot through the ball more often and cleared my lines and although it isn’t always pretty it has been far more effective.
“I’m still only young for a central defender and I’m learning all the time and I just want to keep on improving.’’
