REECE DEAKIN INJURY

3 November 2017

Scan reveals hairline fracture of Reece Deakin's left fibula.

The twenty year old will be out for up to six weeks after an MRI scan revealed he has suffered a hairline fracture to his left leg.

The injury was sustained following a heavy challenge late in the Shrimps’ reserve fixture versus Fleetwood Town on October 10th.

Head of Medicine Simon Farnworth said; “Reece had an X-ray following the game, which proved to be inconclusive. A further X-ray followed but an MRI this week revealed the fracture.

“Reece can continue to weight bear and is able to cycle, cross train and do his upper body weights and when the pain subsides he will start a running programme.

“If all goes well he should be back training in about six weeks.”

Deakin said; “I’ve never really broken a bone so it was difficult to tell how bad it was until the MRI.

“I’m hoping to use this period to my advantage by spending some more time in the gym, which I needed to do anyway.

"It’s been good working with Gaz (Gareth Thomas), he’s been pushing me and I feel I’m in good hands.”
