Steven Old believes the Shrimps’ defence need to tighten up and break the habit of conceding ‘stupid goals’.
Morecambe suffered their second away defeat of the season at Stevenage on Saturday in a game which saw the Shrimps spend large spells camped in the opposition half.
Goals from Matt Godden and Kyle Wootton saw Stevenage pick up their fourth win of the season after surviving periods of onslaught throughout the game.
Centre half Steve Old said; “From a defensive point of view, it’s starting to become a bad habit of leaking goals and we have to cut that out.
“We are scoring goals, attacking freely and creating good goalscoring opportunities, which is a positive but we need to keep it clean at the back and stop conceding these stupid goals.”
