OSWELL DELIGHTED WITH FIRST EFL GOAL

13 December 2018

SHRIMPS’ striker Jason Oswell says he was delighted to get his first Football League goal in the 2-2 draw with Port Vale on Saturday.

The striker, who joined from Stockport in the summer, scored his first league goal for the Shrimps in the first half of the game.

Oswell said: “The goal has been a long time coming and I had a few chances in the game so it was great to get off the mark.

“I saw the ball was falling to Alex Kenyon and I know he has a good delivery and he put it into a good area for me to get onto the end of it and put it home.

“It was a great ball into the box and it was in one of those situations that I like as a striker where the opposition defenders are going out but the ball is coming in and you tend to get more space when that happens.

“It’s just a shame that we didn’t go on to win the game.

"Their first goal was the real turning point because if that wasn’t given, as it shouldn’t have been we win the game 2-0.

“We weren’t in any trouble and were managing the game really well until their goal.

"It was tough to take in the end because we all know we deserved more and we can only hope now that we get some decisions like that in our favour as the season goes on.''
