A POOR first half proved costly as the Shrimps lost 3-1 to league leaders Lincoln.
The home side scored all their goals in the first half as the Shrimps struggled to keep out a good home side.
Jim Bentley named an unchanged side from the draw with Port Vale last weekend but they found themselves a goal down after just seven minutes with a well worked effort.
Harry Toffolo fed Tom Pett down the left and he put in a perfect cross for Harry Anderson to steer the ball past Mark Halstead from eight yards out.
The Shrimps hit back and began to cause the home side a few problems with Steven Old almost making advantage of a mistake by home keeper Grant Smith who dropped Jordan Cranston's cross but the ball fell just out of Old's reach.
The comeback was halted by a second for the home side with a controversial penalty on 32 minutes when Shay McCartan went over easily in the box under the challenge of Alex Kenyon and the referee pointed to the spot.
John Akinde stepped up to send Mark Halstead the wrong way from 12 yards to double Lincoln's advantage.
Five minutes later the home side added a third with a superb free kick from Jason Shackell from 20 yards.
Sam Lavelle brought down McCartan on the edge of the box and was punished as former Burnley man Shackell blasted a free kick into the top left hand corner of the Morecambe goal.
The second half saw the Shrimps restrict Lincoln to long range efforts and pull a goal back themselves with 10 minutes to go.
Rhys Oates produced a superb cross from the right and Kevin Ellison sneaked in at the far post to slide the ball last Grant Smith to score a deserved consolation goal.
