SUPPORTERS THANKED FOR FOODBANK GENEROSITY

12 December 2018

KIND hearted Shrimps’ supporters have been thanked for their generosity after donating hundreds of items to the Morecambe Bay Foodbank.

Morecambe fans were asked to “Bring a Tin’’ to the game against Port Vale on Saturday and organisers say the response was “out of this world.’’

Annette Smith from the Morecambe Bay Foodbank group said: “Because of the generosity of Morecambe fans we were able to put together more than 500 meals which is out of this world.

“The collection was beyond our wildest dreams and we want to thank the club and the supporters for their support.’’

Shrimps’ co-chairman, Rod Taylor, said: “We know our supporters are extremely generous and have a great sense of community and I am not surprised that they responded to the collection as well as they did.

“The players have made a number of visits to the foodbank as well now and it has been amazing to see how they have taken it to their hearts. The players themselves have asked to go back and help where they can and they have been a credit to the club and to the town.’’
