THE Shrimps came from behind to claim their second victory in a week winning 3-2 at the Impact Arena.
The Shrimps went ahead in the 20th minute when Ben Hedley intercepted the ball in his defensive half. The youngster drove through the middle third and played Jason Oswell down the right channel. Oswell carried the ball to the byline and flashed the ball across goal for Adam Campbell to tap in after getting across his man.
Morecambe almost doubled their lead whe in the 30th minute, Rhys Oates met Andrew Tutte’s corner at the back post and had his header well saved. Alfreton countered with pace and Aaron Wildig took a foul on the right side of the defensive third.
The resulting free kick was whipped into the penalty area and headed past Mark Halstead for Alfreton to equalise.
Alfreton went ahead after 39 minutes after a long throw lead to a penalty appeal which was waved away, second phase the ball was floated to the back post by Alfreton’s right-back and headed home by the 6’7” Tom Denton to make it 2-1 to the home side going into half time.
The Shrimps fought back after the break and went level on 54 minutes when Andrew Tutte played a free kick short to Adam Campbell who combined well with Aaron Wildig on the edge of the box to get himself behind the left-back. Campbell slotted home from 6 yards to take his goal tally for the week to 3.
Morecambe pushed for a winner and after a missed penalty by new loanee Liam Mandeville, the 21 year old made a mends when he broke the Alfreton lines and squared the ball to Lamin Jagne who’s effort was well saved but fell to Carlos Mendes Gomes who made no mistake and won it for the Shrimps in the 89th minute.
