Lancaster City FC & Morecambe FC are disappointed to announce that the proposed charity, friendly fixture and family funday, due to take place on Saturday 14th July has had to be cancelled in the interests of health and safety of the players.

We are sure that everyone was looking forward to what was set-up to be a fantastic day and we are sure that supporters are extremely disappointed that this is no longer able to happen and we of course share this feeling.

It was decided between the representatives of the two clubs that, following an extremely hot and dry summer, causing delays in renovation works, the playing surface in the current state wouldn’t be safe to play.

Whilst every effort has been made over the summer to try and keep up with the weather, artificially watering the pitch, with a small army of volunteers working immense amounts of hours to try and rectify problem areas, the proposed date has simply come too soon.

We felt it was in the best interest of everyone associated to both clubs to make an early decision to allow time for alternate arrangements.

The Family Funday in aid of Unique Kidz & Co. will hopefully be re-scheduled to a later date, which will probably be at the start of the league season. We hope that all those intending to come and support will still do so and we can raise a good amount of money for the outstanding work they do.
