SHRIMPS SIGN HAWLEY & BROWNSWORD

10 May 2018

Shrimps’ Academy products Kyle Hawley and Tyler Brownsword have signed one-year professional contracts with the Club.

Promising defender, Brownsword, signed his first professional deal as a 17-year-old in February 2017 and has been rewarded with a renewed contract for next season.

Boss Jim Bentley said; “We know all about Tyler. He’s highly regarded amongst the staff and has put in good performances for the youth and reserve teams.

“He’s a player we have high hopes for and hopefully he can break his way into the first team in months to come.”

Kyle is a forward who was awarded the Academy 2nd Year Player of the Year Award last season. He made his first team debut as a 17-year-old as a substitute at Cheltenham Town in April 2017 and boss Bentley is hoping he will be pushing for more senior appearances next season.

Bentley said: “He’s done very well. He’s shown he has a great attitude and his ability is getting better and better.

“He’s a good target man but he can also do a lot more. He can run the channels, his hold up play is good and he has a decent goalscoring record in both the reserve and youth teams.

“He’s got great potential and hopefully he can fulfil that over the next 12 months.”
