ELLISON DELIGHTED WITH GOAL

26 November 2018

KEVIN Ellison said he was delighted to take his goal tally to 81 for the Shrimps with the leveller against Notts County on Saturday.

Ellison came off the bench to earn the point with a fine late goal that earned an important point against the League 2 strugglers who would have closed the gap to two points on the Shrimps had they won the game.

Kev said: "It was important we didn’t lose the game as it wasn’t nice that we lost at Halifax in midweek and we wanted to get over that result as soon as possible.

"People will have seen that we were playing Notts County who were second bottom of the league and expected us to win. But we knew it was never going to be like that and never going to be easy. If you look at their team on paper they have very strong squad and they should not be where they are in the league.

“It was important that we didn’t lose the game for a lot of reasons so to come off the bench and get the equaliser like I did at Newport a few weeks ago was great. It was good to get the goal but it was more important that we got the point.’'

Looking at the season overall he added: "I have my own targets in terms of goals at the start of each season and I’m short so far this season but who knows what’s around the corner.

"I have 81 goals though for Morecambe now and I am always looking to add to that tally so hopefully I can get some more this season.''
