CHELTENHAM PREVIEW

22 April 2019

SHRIMPS” boss Jim Bentley is hoping fans will come and help the club celebrate another year in the Football League when they meet Cheltenham on Easter Monday.

Morecambe may have lost at Mansfield on Saturday but results elsewhere mean they remain a Football League club for another season, an achievement which Bentley describes as his best ever.

He said: “Saturday was a bittersweet day in many ways as we put in a poor performance at Mansfield but other results meant that we were safe which was fantastic news or everyone.
“To be safe with three games to go is great and although we want to achieve for more than safety it is something we can all be proud of.

“I really do believe that this has been our greatest achievement this year as we have had a lot to contend with but we have stuck together and taken on that challenge and I hope we can celebrate together in good numbers at the game against Cheltenham.

“We need to put Saturday’s defeat behind us and keep our good run going at home.

“We are unbeaten at home now in four games and want to keep that up and I want us to finish the season on a high in front of our fans.

“I don’t want unto limp over the line. I want us to put in a good performance and give us all something to celebrate on what should be a great day.''
