OLIVER PLEASED TO MARK RETURN WITH GOAL

25 April 2019

SHRIMPS’ striker Vadaine Oliver said he was pleased to mark his comeback from injury with a goal in Monday’s 4-0 victory over Cheltenham.

Oliver has been ruled out with injury for three months and marked his return to the starting line up with the first goal of the game against the Robins.

He said: “It was great to get a goal after being out for so long. I’ve not played since Boxing Day and it has been a long road to recovery but it is fantastic to be back and help the team get such a great result.

"We showed what we are about after the Friday defeat. We needed a response after Mansfield and we did that. We showed our character which was great.

"Everyone is buzzing at the moment and it is so different from this time last year when we were all biting our nails a bit. There’s a smile on everyone’s face and the performances have been good.''

Oliver was particularly keen to mention Aaron Collins after being reunited with his former Notts County team mate.

"I have played with Aaron before and we have a good understanding and we seemed to get that straight away,’’ he said.

“He’s a good player and we work well together.

"It was great to show what we are about on Monday and we hope we can continue that type of form for the final two games of the season.’’
