MILLS LOOKING FORWARD TO FACING FORMER CLUB

12 April 2019

SHRIMPS’ defender Zak Mills is looking forward to facing is his former club as Morecambe look for a fourth successive home win when they meet Grimsby Town at the Globe Arena on Saturday.

The right-back, who joined Morecambe from the Mariners in the summer, is in a rich vein of form at the moment and still smiling after scoring his first goal for the Shrimps at Macclesfield last Saturday.

He said: “It’s always nice to come up against a former club and I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday.

“I still know a couple of the boys there and I keep an eye on them and know they are not having a great run at the moment so hopefully we can take advantage of that and get a fourth home win on the bounce.

“The gaffer has been telling us all week how important it is to keep the good home form going for as long as we can and the goal is to very much do the double over Grimsby this weekend.’’

Speaking about his goal at the Moss Rose Mills said: “It was great to get the goal. It’s been a long time coming but it was made all the sweeter as it helped us get an important point.

“I haven’t had too many chances this year but I anticipated that Steven Old would win the header and put it back into a good area. I just got there with a glancing header that the keeper was never going to save, to be honest.’’
