BOSS LEFT FRUSTRATED AFTER EXETER DEFEAT

26 August 2019

SHRIMPS' boss Jim Bentley was left frustrated after seeing his side beaten by a late Exeter goal at the Globe Arena.

After seeing his side come back from two goals down against the league leaders Bentley saw his side undone by a Nicky Law goal five minutes from time to end the afternoon pointless.

“I’m really disappointed with all the goals we conceded. The first was poor, the second was criminal and the third was scandalous.

“There is no doubt they started better than us and we gave them a helping hand with both goals. Momentum and confidence are massive in football; they got on top, our passing was poor, we didn’t get going at all.

“But we regrouped, we kept going and we started playing what I think we’re capable of. We were excellent at times especially after Lewis Alessandra brought us back into the game with a wonder goal.

“We’ve went out in the second half, started brightly, got the second goal and it looked like there was only us going to win it.

"We pulled it back to 2-2 with a great goal after about 25 passes and had the momentum with some great football and that’s why I am so disappointed that we didn’t take anything from the game.

“When you come from 2-0 down you have to make sure you do all you can to keep the point and their third goal looked a scandalous one to concede and that it what I am so annoyed.''
