Morecambe FC Community Sports are pleased to announce that the Walking Football sessions will continue to run every week now on a Tuesday evening at a later time throughout the year.
Since the initial launch of the Walking Football sessions this summer we have seen a consistent turnout in numbers with the over 35's age category.
Over the past few months we have aimed to get more people in the local area active and staying healthy through the delivery of a fun and enjoyable sport that anyone can get involved in and try it out in an hour of footballing fun!
We have welcomed people of all ability to the walking football sessions who is over 35 and it doesn't matter if you are experienced at playing or maybe it's your first time.
Due to the popular demand that our walking football sessions have had, we are pleased to announce that starting from 3rd September the evening sessions will be taking place every Tuesday from 7-8pm and will be running throughout the year. These sessions will again be taking place at Mossgate Sports Centre in Heysham and the cost will be £2.50 per person/ per session.
Community Sports coach Martin Powell, who runs the Walking football added "Walking Football is proving to be very popular with Morecambe FC Community Sports. Regularly enticing 20 participants for a fun, social game of football. Rules have been built in over the past few weeks to the point where we now play full rules; this includes below shoulder height, no contact and shooting outside the area".
"We have managed to book a pitch at Heysham Mossgate Community Centre to continue Walking Football on a Tuesday evening 7-8pm from 3rd September. This will be a weekly session open for anyone aged 35 and over of any footballing ability at a cost of just £2.50 per participant".
