The Walking Football sessions run by Morecambe Community Sports for men and women 35 and over have proven a hit with the locals since the launch this summer.
Morecambe FC Community Sports have been delivering Walking Football sessions in the local community at Mossgate Sports Centre in Heysham since the beginning of July.
They have been taking place on a weekly basis on Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm and are open to men and women over 35 of all footballing ability.
We believe in making the Walking Football sessions an affordable hobby that people throughout the community can get involved in, socialise and make new friends and keep active by playing a sport that they have an interest in. The cost of attending is £2.50 per person/ per session.
Throughout the summer holidays we have been pleased to see a consistent turnout in numbers with the same faces turning up on a weekly basis to get involved and have some fun.
Last Friday another weekly walking football session got started up which will be taking place every Friday from 12:30-1:30pm. Working in partnership will CSI Active Lancashire, these sessions will be taking place at Regent Park in Westend, Morecambe, and are free for all those that attend.
Again, this weekly session is for men and women over 35 of all footballing ability and by working with CSI Active Lancashire we aim to get more people in the local area active and enjoying a fun sport together.
As last Friday was the first walking football session that we have delivered at Regent Park; Community Sports coach Martin Powell was pleased to see such as positive turnout in numbers for those willing to take part.
We hope to see some of you at the walking football sessions in the coming weeks, you don't need to contact in advance- if you would like to attend then simply turn up on a Wednesday evening at Mossgate Sports Centre for 6pm or Friday afternoon at Regent Park for 12:30pm.
Community Sports coach Martin Powell spearheads the walking football sessions, so if you have any enquiries please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone the Community Sports office on 01524 412125
