UTILITA EFL GIRLS CUP FINAL

2 December 2019

For this weekend's fixture at home to Carlisle United we will have the Utilita EFL Girls Cup Final on the pitch during half time between Ripley St Thomas and Carnforth High.

Following on from our Girls Cup competition back in November, with a total of nine schools and seventeen teams competing in the event, we had the group stage matches and quarter then semi finals taking place. This left us with our two finalists' teams Ripley St Thomas and Carnforth High.

Our two finalists will be playing their match for this weekends game at the Globe Arena between Morecambe and Carlisle United (15:00pm kick- off). It will be taking place on the pitch at half time, with the game running in a 6-a-side format being ten minutes long.

We are pleased to announce that we will have Lancashire FA Level Four referee, Lucy Briggs taking charge of the game. Lucy is one of the highest ranked female referees in the Lancashire FA, so it is great to see her dedicate her time to help out for the competition.

This is also shows just how far female football has come over the past few years in our region, with the overall quality vastly improving each year.

The winner of our Utilita EFL Girls Cup final will go on to represent the football club in the next round of the competition, the Area Finals. Here they will go up against the winning Girls team from other EFL clubs in our region, this will be taking place at some point around January time.

On behalf of everyone here at the football club, we would like to wish Ripley St Thomas and Carnforth High the best of luck in their final this weekend. We hope that both home and away supporters will get behind both teams to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone.
