WE'RE UP FOR THE BATTLE

22 February 2019

MORECAMBE boss Jim Bentley says his side are up for the battle as they face league leaders Lincoln City at the Globe Arena this weekend.

Bentley says his side need to take confidence from their victories over Port Vale and Oldham into the game and look forward to the challenge.

He said: "The last two games have given us a real shot in the arm and some momentum and there is no better team to assess yourself than the league leaders who are favourites to go up.

"We have shown great character and determination in the last two games and we will need to show that same sport of spirit against Lincoln.

"It will be a proper battle because they are a big, physical side but they also play good football as well so it will be tough for us but we have to go into the game looking forward to it.

"They are a club on the up and have good players all over the park and they are top of the league for a reason."

Bentley said the mood in the Shrimps' camp is understandably high.

"It's amazing how quickly things can change in football. Before last week there was some doom and gloom but the two wins have put us in a different place and we have to build on that.

"There have been a lot of games where we should have got more from them and we all know that. We have dropped points too often and that does affect you.

"But we need to start looking up and looking at what is ahead of us and not behind us.

"There are still a lot of games to play and a lot of points to be won yet and another good result this weekend will be a massive boost."
