Community Sports will be hosting the Kids Cup final on the pitch during half time of the Stevenage game this Saturday.
On Friday 11th January we hosted the annual EFL Kids Cup competition, in which primary schools within the local community are invited to participate in the Six-a-Side tournament with the chance of playing at Wembley Stadium to represent the club.
In total there were 21 teams that took part; another great turnout to the event which got more than 130 young children involved in playing for their school. We had the teams seperated into 4 groups were they played in a group stage format at the same time across the 4 pitches.
After a morning of playing the group stage matches and then the Quarter- Finals; it came down to the final four teams competing in the Semi's.
On pitch one we had Greatwood vs Westgate, and on the other pitch last year's winners, St Peters, were up against Bolton Le Sands.
Both matches kept their drama up until the final whistle and were closely contested. In the end Greatwood won their match against Westgate 2-0 and St Peters narrowly beat Bolton Le Sands 2-1.
Greatwood will now be playing against St Peters in the final of the Morecambe FC Community Sports' Kids Cup during half time of Saturday's league match against Stevenage. We hope that all supporters at the game will cheer on the youngsters as they compete to progress further forward into the Area Finals later in March.
