The Shrimps bounced back from the 3-0 defeat in their opening pre-season friendly match at FC United to win 2-0 at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium on Saturday afternoon and midfielder Aaron Wildig was pleased to get the result despite results not being the focus.

Wildig said: "It was disappointing to lose at FC United but it's not about results at this stage. We're not there to get a result, we're there to get our fitness up and form partnerships with each other on the pitch.

"Saying that though, a result is nice to get so it was pleasing to get that at Bamber Bridge.

"Pre-season's been tough. Last season I finished with a knee injury against Cheltenham so usually, I would do some running over the summer that wasn't the case this year.

"As a result, I may be slightly behind where I've been in previous seasons but I'm improving every day.

"I'm feeling well and enjoying it."
