CLUB COMMUNICATION REGARDING GLOBE ARENA PLAYING SURFACE

25 July 2019

MORECAMBE FC’s Joint Chairmen, Rod Taylor and Graham Howse, have updated supporters on the current position regarding the playing surface at the Globe Arena.

The pitch was relaid in the summer after a major investment from the club’s board and a desire to protect it ahead of the first home game of the season has seen this weekend’s friendly with Accrington Stanley switched to Lancashire FA’s headquarters at Leyland.

Rod and Graham said: ”Unfortunately the work on the pitch was delayed through no fault of the club and although it is ready the weather forecast is for heavy rain on Saturday and if that is the case the pitch could be damaged before the season even starts.

“The Board is as disappointed as anyone that we have had to move the game but we are sure all supporters would recognise it is important the club protects the pitch and ensures the funds we invested are not wasted through avoidable damage.

“Moving the game to Lancashire FA’s headquarters was the best option in this instance as it gives supporters an opportunity of seeing the game, instead of playing behind closed doors and making sure we are in the best possible position we can be in come August 3rd and the first game of the season against Grimsby at the Globe.’’
