CLUB COMMUNICATION REGARDING MATCHDAY TICKETS

25 July 2019

THE Board of Directors at Morecambe FC has reassured fans that tickets can be bought on the same day as matches at the Globe Arena.

The club announced new ticketing details this week saying it was to maintain admission prices for a 10th successive season if they were bought up to midnight the day before a game.

The club has stressed that tickets can still be bought on matchdays, but in line with the majority of Football League clubs, will cost an extra £2 when bought on the day.

A club’ statement said: “It has been suggested that tickets cannot be purchased on matchday, that is simply not true.

“We have been criticised in the past in some quarters for not dealing with unexpected increases in attendance so having listened to that point, in particular from the Shrimps Trust, we are now encouraging fans to pre-pay for tickets.

“This can be done in any number of ways up to midnight the day before a fixture and also applies to away fans and it gives us a real advantage in terms of planning for the game.

“On the day matchday admission prices have been frozen for nine years and during that time the club has sustained significant cost increases such as minimum wage and cost of living increases.

“We have frozen those prices again but the extra £2 on the day increase is a change from previous seasons.

“We are aware from other clubs in the area and in League 2 that this gives us advantages in terms of planning for games.

“The club is not awash with cash as has been noted on several occasions and we must, as responsible custodians, strive to break even whilst ensuring we give Jim Bentley the funds he needs to build a squad worthy of the club.’’
