LEWIS Alessandra wasted no time making his mark for the Shrimps with a goal in this good pre-season workout for Jim Bentley’s side.
Alessandra, who joined the club earlier in the day, scored the opening goal of the game on 36 minutes after being teed up by fellow Shrimps’ returnee Shaun Miller and gave an impressive display.
Miller went close to giving the Shrimps the lead in the ninth minute when he was unlucky to see his neat chip over the Marine keeper hit the post.
Miller turned creator for Alessandra’s close range goal after some good work down the right before laying the back across the six yard box for Alessandra to score from six yards.
Marine fought back and went close to pulling a goal back less than a minute later when Mark Halstead lost possession to Brett Mbalanda but recovered well to save the striker’s effort.
Alessandra had the chance for a second Burt scuffed his long range effort wide before Marine went close again when Steve Irwin fired just over the bar from 20 yards out.
The second half saw fewer chances until a late flurry of goals from the Shrimps in the final seven minutes of the game.
Miller went close to making to 2-0 with a 48th minute snapshot that flew inches wide of the left hand post before Kevin Ellison forced the Marine keeper into a decent save low to his right with a shot from the right hand side of the box.
There Shrimps added a second from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute when John O’Sullivan slotted home after Luke Conlan had been brought down in the box by Kieran Holsgrove.
Lamin Jagne made it 3-0 two minutes from time with a sweet finish from 25 yards out and Kevin Ellison added a fourth in the final minute with a cool finish from the left hand side of the box.
